Laura and Joe | Michigan Fall Engagement Photography

It may be a little cooler outside (and by cooler, I mean, hello temps in the 30s and 20s), but that didn’t stop these two love birds from being wonderful models for their engagement shoot. Laura and I were good buddies from high school and I was super excited when she contacted me for an engagement shoot. It also made me stop and realize, whoa, ten years have gone by since I have seen this amazing person- and since high school!

From, the moment I saw Laura and Joe together it was pretty obvious how in love they are. Their love + this gorgeous fall light = well, take a peek below and see for yourself…

  1. Hi Meghan!! Laura sent me a link to the pics. Nice work. I haven’t spoken to Laura about the pics but I suspect if I did she’d say “What do you think?” (i.e. looking for my comments/inputs) Lo and behold, a spot for just that at the pic site!!! So here goes …..

I preferred the pics with them looking at each other or directly at the camera. I also preferred the pics that were closer versus the pics with them in the distance. Seemed like there was too much scenery and not enough of Laura and Joe.

Of the 12 pics (#1 at the top and #12 at the bottom):

My “A” pick was pic #11, second from the last pic. Looking natural and at the camera. Each individual had equal proportions. Slight smiles seemed natural.

My “B” pick was pic #8, the B&W. The cuddle seems flirtatious and I sense a lot of affection. Again good proportions. Only thing that strikes me as a little odd looking is what comes across as a huge hand (Laura’s right) coming out of the ground! Sorry, my bad.

My “C” pick was pic #1, the top or first pic. I sense happiness between them. Again good proportions.

My “D” pick was pic #3, middle pic in row of three. Another one with them looking at the camera, not too distant. I understand the hug so to speak but Laura seems too short to me. Joe’s eyes look too blue to me. I keep focussing on them. Sorry, my bad again. This pic and pic #9 were close.

To me, the rest of the pics were nice but either the subjects were too far in the distance for my taste or the poses seemed to contrived (for lack of better words .. sorry)

Anyway, there are my comments on my Final Four. I suspect Laura and Joe have their favs and they’re opposite of me but hey …. that’s OK!!

  2. Hi Meghan! The pictures are great! Tagging onto Brian’s comments, I’m not sure if the scenery was too cluttered. For example, there’s so many leaves it almost blends into a single piece, so I didn’t find it super distracting. The only thing that stood out as a hmmmm to me was how “blue” some of the pictures seemed.

Other than that, they look great! I was really hoping to take my sister’s senior pictures during the same time frame as these shots, and now I’m super sad we missed the window. And wouldn’t it be nice if there was a nice beach or lake front near us as well? Seriously.

Anyway, great shots! See you at the Christmas party!
