RACE DAY! The Disney Princess Half Marathon Day is upon us!! I’m like a little kid at Christmas time the night before the race. I know I need to get to sleep and get a good nights sleep, but it can be so hard. Especially when the race the following morning is a Disney race that goes through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot! I did manage to get to sleep by 8:30, and was up for my 3:15 wake-up call from the main Mouse himself, Mickey. I donned my tutu and glitter headband and off I went. I will say how thankful I am for staying on Disney property as traffic was horrible and buses had a little bit of a priority in order to get to the start on time. After a quick bathroom break, I dropped off my gear check bag and walked the 20 minute distance to the start line. I barely squeezed into corral C before they shut the gate and we were off after a few fireworks lit up the night sky. Join me and my handy cell phone as you see some of my favorite moments of the race from the start outside of Epcot, through the Magic Kingdom and the Epcot finish.
After finishing the fun 2:08 marathon (not a PR by any means, but still a top race of all time for me in terms of enjoyment), I joined the hubby and little man back at the hotel room. Well, I beat them back rather. They had attempted to see me finish the race, but got caught up in the traffic and monster detour that were the area roads surrounding the Epcot area. Poor guys spent about 2 hours traveling via bus with no reward for their toils. Sounded like the two amigos needed a little R and R and both laid down to take a nap while I took a walk to stretch out my legs and relax by the pool. After the little siesta, the gentlemen were ready for more Disney adventures and we headed to the Disney Springs after party before taking a bus to Boma, the African inspired buffet at Animal Kingdom Village.
