If you’re a client heading to a family photo session and the skies are gray outside, you might be tempted to be bummed.
On the other hand, if you’re an Oakland Township photographer heading to a family photo session and the skies are gray, you are jumping for joy!
You see, every photographer knows that gray skies ARE something to write home about. With a gray sky, the lighting is nice and even. Clients can face whichever way they please and they will never be met with harsh sunlight. Kids can run freely in open fields with no sign of squinty eyes to be found.
Photographers everywhere rejoice when gray skies are predicted in the weather forecast. Yes, siree bob, they do.
Therefore, don’t run or hide at the first sight of gray skies. No, instead my friends, embrace them and know that you have a killer (evenly lit) photo session coming up.
A Session for the Hetu Family
My friends in the Hetu family knew this to be true with their photo session. You see, the gray skies combined with their perfectly styled fall outfits made for one spectacular session. Especially with two energetic little boys!
Being a mom of two boys myself, I know it’s ALWAYS a crazy time with the two are together. A crazy time, but a fun time (most of the time. Unless of course someone is sitting on someone else. Then it’s less of an enjoyable time. Then it becomes a WWF match or something equally intense).
I’ve wondered if I was alone with my crazy (but mostly fun) little boys. Enter the Hetu and their band of boys.
Turns out, I am not alone.
The Hetu boys were equal parts sweet and nice all rolled together with excitement and energy. Chasing them back and forth throughout our photography session kept me both on my toes and smiling (plus, slightly out of breath, if we are being honest here. Those little guys are fast!).
The running back and forth was completely worth it to capture these little one’s personalities. Being able to freeze time for a moment and keep them little just a bit longer is truly an honor.
