What does a session include?
The session includes time with Meghan Mace of Meghan Mace Photography (MMP), which can vary depending on your photographic needs, all the editing and professional sorting of your photos after the session, a link to download all finish, high-resolution images and licensing rights for printing the images. The number of images varies depending on the portrait session type.
Do I get to keep every photograph you took during our session or day?
As mentioned above, the number of photos will be dependent on the session type. These images are hand selected and carefully edited by myself over the course of many hours to showcase the best images. The ones in which you look fabulous! This is why we are exchanging payment for service: for my keen eye to pick out the best images. Additional images do not accurately display my style or show you at your best. The shutter opens and closes a lot during a photo shoot, and I’m sure you wouldn’t want photos of yourself in the middle of a blink : )
Can I have access to the non-watermarked images?
Yes, as part of the pricing packages and as part of your contract you can have non-transferable rights for reproduction and digital distribution of the photographic files. However, professional printing is available and strongly recommended. You may print the images wherever you would like, but note that not all printing companies are the same. At times different printing companies can produce prints that are not representative of the editing style that is created, resulting in images that are too dark or saturated. Feel free to ask for suggestions!
What should I wear to my photo shoot?
Coordinating solid colors are recommended. Stay away from logos and shirts with writing on them. These items might be popular now, but can quickly become dated when looking at your photos in the future. Whatever you decide to wear, make sure it is something you feel great in and represents you!
What should children wear to the photo shoot?
This is addressed separately from the “What should I wear?” question since it is sometimes difficult to get kids into clothing that you want captured in pictures. If the weather permits, one solution would to have kids dress in layers. Let them pick out one of the layers and you pick the rest. This way there is the opportunity to grab some pictures in both your favorite and their favorite outfits. Bribery also works for getting them to dress the way you want! It is recommended that the clothing also be free of words, graphic designs or anything else that might be dated in few years time.
What should I bring to a photo shoot?
As a photographer who shoots on location, most often outside, it is recommend that you bring a comb, brush and/or hairspray just in case the wind tousles your hair a bit. Want to make the photos uniquely your own? Feel free to bring props and/or a change of clothes. Have some props in mind, but not sure how to get them together? Drop me a line, I might be able to help.
How can I present myself as relaxed and happy in the photographs?
Do just that. Relax! The folks who get nervous at the thought of being photographed, are the ones that end up looking nervous in pictures! It’s a self-fulfilling prophesy, you might say. Instead, just forget about the camera and enjoy the excuse to “play” with your loved ones. You’re going to have a good time, don’t worry!
Can I post the photographs you take to Facebook or other social networking sites?
Sure! A few favorites will probably end up there from MMP’s end as well… But please do not crop the images or cut out the watermark if it is present. The watermark shows the photographs are owned and copyrighted by MMP. Cropping can make the photos look distorted and won’t accurately display MMP’s style. If there is no watermark, a tag to MMP’s Facebook page is greatly appreciated.
What is a ‘Lifestyle’ newborn photography session?
A ‘Lifestyle’ newborn photography session is less posed and more of you and your new bundle of joy in your natural environment: your home! The session typically takes place in your home and will include various areas such as bedrooms, nurseries, living rooms and other areas that you ‘live in’! The session is less about posing baby in different positions and more about capturing the joy between you and your lil’ loved one!
